Well taking into account that he has never had a stocking I think something nostalgic would be a nice touch. Maybe an action figure or collectible that he would have been into when he was younger would show a lot of originality and thought.

Go buy a big stocking or make one out of red paper or cloth, big enough for you. Then on Christmas Eve , after he goes to sleep make sure you set alarm to go off at Midnight. You must be in stocking when he comes down , so he can have his stocking and you too.

It will be the best Christmas for you and him, , no matter what comes next, you’ll always laugh about it for years. It works.
