Is Microsoft considered a growth stock, and is GE considered an income stock?
In my opinion both MSFT and GE are too large to be growth stocks. Their is very little room for growth in such large companies.
Growth stocks are stocks that have the opportunity to grow. In that respect there are a couple of things to look for in such stocks. 1. Is there an expanding market for their products. 2. Is the company not overly large (small and mid cap stocks are more likely to be growth stocks than large cap stocks) 3. Is the stock not over valued already. Many so called growth stocks have already had future earnings discounted for the next 20 years, so even though their earing might grow their share price might not.
