I’ve been trying to find "the perfect combination" of technical indicators for a couple of years now and I still haven’t found it. I have great filter software that allows me to program any filter/indicator in just about any way I want. I find a great combination and hit great streaks for a while that makes me think I found it, but then things shift and they begin dropping soon after I purchase. It’s almost as if the whole market in general works great using one technical strategy for several weeks, then it shifts to another technical strategy. By the time you find the strategy that had every great pick for the last 3 months, the indicators need to be tweaked.
If you take a stock market course at any university, you will find that most professors have a low opinion of technical analysis. It is generally felt to be worthless or near worthless. It’s great for predicting the past but not good for predicting the future.
